Rules

General Chat

1. All IMC Rules and ToS apply within the room. Pleases be aware of them.

2. Picture limits are 350x350 pixels and 50k. No female nipples or genitals
can be visible, and definitely no porn. There is enough of it on the net, and
the purpose of the room is role-play, not smut. In addition, though sci-fi
pictures can sometimes be hard to make into good character shots, I do ask
that all pictures be at least somewhat appropriate to the setting and mood.
Modern pictures are acceptable, as are anime and such, as long as it doesn’t
go against the feel of the room.

3. Treat other players and staff, as you would like to be treated. No flaming,
or derogatory comments regarding race, ethnicity, gender, etc. No Player should
try to force and or harass another player into not playing with someone just
because they do not like the other person. No player will plot to kill off
another player’s character because they no not like something that other player
said or did. If you have a problem with another chatter, please take it to
PM's, or report it to the staff.

4. The room is rated M for mature. This means that the level of sexual
content and violence allowed is equivalent to that of an R rated movie. The
Abyss is a violent setting, so be warned. However, please take all sexually
explicit or graphically violent Role-play to PM or to a PR. Actively seeking
sexual content (cyber sex) is not acceptable.

5.Character Death: It will be decided between the players if a character can
or cannot be killed in a hostile scene. This is decided at the beginning of all
hostile scenes. When players notice that the scene is turning hostile they need
to drop OOC and decide at that point and announce their intentions in the room
in public. Once this is decided there is no turning back, no changing your mind
halfway through because you are loosing. If the play must be called part way
through battle that includes lethal actions, you will be allotted a time period to
get back to the play and finish it before ST's step in and declare your character
forfeit (in other words if it is noticed that you are avoiding the scene due to
you possibly loosing your character after stating you were fine with it then your
character will be put to rest by ST call.) If it is agreed that no death should
occur then characters CAN be beat down to incapacitated (any carry over is
ignored). This does not mean that if your character gets out of line that ST's
still cannot step in and decide your characters fate.

6. For most characters, slapping in stats and submitting them for approval is
optional. Only Force-Users or other specialized characters, such as droids or
Mandalorians who might still have access to the ubiquitous technology, need go
through these steps. There will also be a test-play period extended towards
those with characters that will require approval. For the moment, this period
is a week.

Those who are for whatever reason without a sheet are assumed to be average
members of their species, with no extra points in Skills for the purposes of any
die rolls they may need to make.

A character who requires approval MUST have his sheet attached to his character
handle. At the moment, the Approval process is pretty simple: work up the
sheet, using the rules on the Character Creation page, and show it to James
Anspach. If he says it’s good, congrats. The character is approved. This
setup will likely change in the future, but for the moment, that’s how it works.

7. Canon characters are not currently allowed, except by Staffer approval. (These
are characters that exist somewhere, like in the KotOR games.)

8. All Character Sheets must be linked under the handle. All players must keep
track of their character XP either on the Character sheet it’s self or on a page
linked to the Character Sheet. Players also must keep track of where, when and
how much XP they spend. (Ex. Spent 6 points to boost Brawling 5/5/05). You
DO NOT have to resubmit you character each time you spend points.

9. Do not advertise other rooms within Star Wars: Abyss in public or in PMs
unless you have permission to do so from the Host or Co-Host.

10: Have Fun. This is the most important rule. Just Have fun.

Ignoring these rules will result in a Warning, then more serious measures.
Rules are subject to change. Major rules changes will be decided up on
by staff members and will be announced on the MB.

Note: If the current Host should no longer be associated with Star Wars:
Abyss, all information, including webspace login and password, HTML,
images, and all will be forfeited to the appropriate member of the Twilight
Cities staff. (The above note has been included as per IMC's requirement
on Supported and Featured Private rooms and Public rooms.)

Alien Races

1: Creation of new/original alien species is allowed, but they must be
approved by one of the staff before they can be played. Additionally,
any characters from new/original species must have character sheets.

2: If you're playing a well-known alien species (such as a Hutt, Wookiee,
or Twi'lek) you don't really need to have a character sheet. However, if
you're playing an more obscure alien species, please create a character
sheet for it to include a race description. It's just helpful for the rest
of us.

3: Ewoks, Rakata, Yuuzhan, and Vong are not allowed in play.
