The Force
The mysterious energy field known as the Force permeates the galaxy.
It is created by life, found everywhere, a part of everything. It lies
beyond that which can normally be perceived, yet a few beings, such
as the Jedi Knights, know how to feel its ebb and flow. With practice
and study, Jedi learn to manipulate that energy, gaining control over
life, thought and matter.
The Force is the foundation of the beliefs of the Jedi. As their kind
have lately been all but eliminated by the Sith, those who know of
and believe in the Force are slowly becoming silent and few in number.
However, despite the darkness brought to the galaxy by the Sith, it was
the actions of a fallen Jedi named Revan which returned light and
freedom to the galaxy by destroying Darth Malak.
Belief in the Force has thus far persisted in the galaxy.
Types of Force-Use
Character Points
Spending Character points to gain extra dice on rolls is the smallest
form of Force-Use, and represents simple concentration or unconscious
little tugs on the Force. Spending character points on a roll gives the
character one extra die per point spent. These points are lost, however,
so one must be careful about spending them all.
Force Points
Spending a Force point to aid in a roll or to use a Force Power tends
to be more of a conscious action. Those who are not Force Sensitive
can only have up to five Force Points at any one time. Those who
ARE Force-Sensitive may have as many as they can earn.
Spending a Force Point on a roll essentially doubles the character's die
pool for that roll. A character may not spend Character Points and
Force Points on the same roll.
-Every character begins the game with one Force Point.
-Force-Sensitive characters start with an extra Force Point, for a total of 2.
Force Skills
These are studied, focused uses of the Force, through which the most
remarkable feats may be accomplished. Some of these feats will be
superhuman, while others may well be regarded as a kind of sorcery.
This represents what most people in the galaxy think of as 'Force-use'.
-Characters who wish to start with Force abilities must spend some of
their starting Attribute dice on some or all of the following Force Skills:
Control, Alter or Sense.
-A teacher must have at least 3 dice in the Force skill to be taught;
the teacher's skill level must exceed the student's skill level.
-A Jedi student must have a teacher to learn a Force skill. Learning
a Force skill requires one week of intensive study and costs 10
Character Points. The character gets the skill at 1 die, and gains
one power involving the skill. A Jedi student will most often be
taught Control first, although some teachers begin instruction with the
Sense skill. Alter is usually taught last.
Difficulty of Force powers to use.
Single-Skill Powers are at a base of Moderate (10).
Double-Skill Powers are a base of Difficult (15).
Triple-Skill Powers are a base of Very Difficult (20).
If a power can be used untrained and the character has 'learned' it, the difficulty decreases by a step, so somebody who's learned Receptive Telepathy would use it at difficulty 5, rather than 10.
In The case if resisted powers the Jedi uses The resisted roll or the difficulty of the power whichever is higher.
